Ryboquin™ – The background

  • In over 50% of cancer cases, cancerous cells do not respond to chemotherapy at some time during treatment.
  • How to overcome the prevalence of chemo-resistant cancers is currently one of the great challenges in the cancer field.
  • According to Cancer Research UK, a majority of non-responsive patients die within 5 years of diagnosis.
  • Ryboquin™ offers the potential to make these patients responsive to chemotherapy by employing novel nano technology to deliver agents direct to the cancerous cells with the potential to significantly improve the receptiveness of those cells to chemotherapy.
  • This may halt or significantly reduce tumour growth, offering hope to patients and potentially saving or prolonging millions of lives throughout the world.
  • Ryboquin™ is a fusion of two Nobel prize-winning technologies:  Ubiquitin (2004) and siRNA (2007) resulting in a therapy which has been shown in vitro to be effective in treating drug resistant cancers.
  • EctoPharma has been working with the London School of Pharmacy and contract research organisation CXR on this project.
