Potentially a significant advance in cancer care
EctoPharma is working on the research and development of a novel gene therapy employing cutting edge nano technology which may have the potential to help with the chemotherapy treatment of several forms of cancer.
In 2009, EctoPharma signed licence agreements with the UK Medical Research Council for the gene technology Itch Ubiquitin Ligase (ITCH) which is the active agent in Ryboquin™ and with the London School of Pharmacy for the dendrimer nano technology which enables the topical delivery of the new product.
A Phase I study in cancer patients is on schedule to be launched in 2013. EctoPharma will progress the project to the conclusion of Phase II trials before seeking a partner to take the product onto the market.
